Sacramento, CA : Alan Clint Bennett, 56, died after crash into a guardrail on Interstate 5 in Sacramento on Tuesday, June 30, 2015

A man driving at a high rate of speed lost control on Interstate 5 in Sacramento and died after crashing into a guardrail, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Alan Clint Bennett, 56, of Sacramento, was driving a 1992 Chevrolet Blazer just after 6:10 a.m. Tuesday when he entered southbound I-5 from eastbound Arena Boulevard, officers said.

While entering the highway, Bennett lost control of his vehicle, which continued east across all southbound lanes of I-5 and slammed into a guardrail in the center median.

Bennett, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center where he died from his injuries, CHP said.

The Chevrolet was also not equipped with airbags, according to officers.

A passing 2015 Infiniti Q50 sustained minor damage because of flying debris from the crash, but no one inside the car was hurt.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
