FLINT TOWNSHIP, MI : 29-year-old badly injured in crash with semi-truck on I-75 on Tuesday, 16th July 2024

A 29-year-old sustained serious injuries after police say he stopped in a travel lane of I-75 and got hit by a semi-truck overnight.

The Flint Township Police Department received a call around 1:30 a.m. for a 29-year-old in a vehicle stopped on a travel lane of northbound I-75 near the Miller Road interchange with its hazard lights on.

While officers were responding to investigate, additional 911 callers reported that a FedEx semi-truck slammed into the back of the 29-year-old's car. The collision sent the semi-truck careening into the center median wall and caused it to roll over.

The 29-year-old sustained serious injuries while the semi-truck driver, who police did not identify, suffered minor injuries. Ambulances transported both drivers to an area hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe the 29-year-old may have been intoxicated when the crash happened.
