Two people were injured in a head on collision on Highway 61 Friday night.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a car traveling south in the northbound lane hit another car traveling north in the northbound lane.
The crash happened around 10:30 pm on Friday between Homestead Road and Alseth Road on Highway 61.
Jade Hawkinson of Silver Bay was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix, in the northbound lane on Highway 61 in the left lane attempting to pass a Toyota 4-runner, driven by Michael Mattingly of Eagan, Minnesota.
At which point, a Honda Accord, driven by Shawn Bennet-Casanova of Nashwauk, was driving south in the northbound lane.
The Pontiac and the Honda moved left toward the north bound right lane and collided head on, causing the Honda to hit the Toyota 4-runner.
Bennett-Cassanova, and Hawkinson were both taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the 4-Runner, Mattingly, had no apparent injuries.
The northbound lane was closed for more than an hour as authorities attended to the crash.
