Molalla, OR : Man critically injured after two-vehicle crash northwest of Molalla on Monday afternoon, July 27, 2015
A Molalla man remained in critical condition Tuesday after a two-vehicle crash northwest of Molalla drove a length of irrigation pipe through his windshield and into his face.
Andrew Stephen Koerner, 26, is in the intensive-care unit at Portland's OHSU Hospital, where he was rushed by helicopter ambulance Monday afternoon.
A young child, whose name and condition are not available, was riding in the backseat when the car Koerner was driving crashed into a truck. The child was taken by ambulance to Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center in Oregon City.
Sgt. Nathan Thompson, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman, said Koerner was driving a Chevrolet sedan east on South Barnards Road around 3:30 p.m., following a Chevrolet truck hauling irrigation pipe. When the truck turned on South Cramer Road, Koerner apparently failed to notice and crashed into the truck, overturning it.
The truck driver was not hurt.
A Molalla Fire District crew administered first aid at the scene.
Thompson said the crash remains under investigation. No citations have been issued.
