A 9-year-old girl has died from her injuries in a multi-car wreck involving a drunk driver Saturday night
Six people were transported to the Medical University of South Carolina to be treated for their injuries sustained in the crash.
The coroner says 9-year-old Da’Vieona Hamilton, of Charleston, died at MUSC.
Just before 6:00pm Saturday night, police responded to an accident involving several vehicles on interstate 26 and Cosgrove Avenue in North Charleston. Police say, a total of six cars were involved in the accident.
Sunday morning, police reported that a 9-year-old girl was killed in the accident.
Police confirmed the driver who caused the accident was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The drunk driver is 56-year-old Dale E. Yarborough. He was arrested on the scene and remains behind bars. Yarborough is charged with felony DUI involving death and reckless homicide
