Madison, WI : A Cross Plains man was killed and a Mount Horeb teen injured in a two-vehicle crash on Thursday, January, 25th 2018

A Cross Plains man was killed and a Mount Horeb teen injured Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash, the crash caused by the teen crossing the center line of the highway.

The crash was reported shortly after 10 p.m. on Highway J at Valley Spring Road in the town of Cross Plains, the Dane County Sheriff's Office said.

The preliminary investigation showed a car driven by a 16-year-old female from Mount Horeb was westbound on Highway J when it crossed the center line and struck an eastbound car driven by a 55-year-old man from Cross Plains.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene while the teen suffered non-life threatening injuries. The man was not wearing a seat belt and the teen was wearing a seat belt, officials said.

Highway J was shut down for approximately four hours during the initial investigation.

The name of the fatal victim has not been released pending notification of family.
