The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a man and woman were killed when a pickup truck rear-ended their car in Rolette County.
The Highway Patrol says the crash occurred Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 281, about 6 miles east of Dunseith.
Troopers say 43-year-old Belcourt resident Dwight Azure and 44-year-old Rolla resident Heidi Azure died at the scene. The Highway Patrol says their car was slowing to make a turn on a secondary road when it was struck by the pickup truck.
The 47-year-old driver of the pickup, Lyle Beston, of Belcourt, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Beston and one of his two passengers suffered minor injuries.
Beston’s court record doesn’t list an attorney who could comment on his charge.
