Illinois State Police (ISP) reported five crashes involving ISP squad cars over the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend.
One of those incidents happened in Marion when a trooper was assisting with a crash along I-57.
It happened on January 14, at 5:05 p.m. on the right shoulder of the I-57 exit ramp in Marion.
ISP said the car was fully marked with lights activated and parked while the trooper was assisting with a crash. At this time, a Mitsubishi Galant was driving by when it lost control and hit the rear of the ISP squad car.
