Two-vehicle crash near Elberta Alabama

A wreck on the outskirts of Elberta earlier this week has taken the life of a Pensacola, Fla., man.
On Monday, Alabama State Troopers responded to a fatal, two-vehicle crash three miles east of the town on U.S. 98. Upon arrival, they learned that 35-year-old Jason L. Marks, of Pensacola was driving west in a 2004 Mitsubishi Eclipse when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a 2007 Mack truck.

According to Sgt. Joe Piggott of Alabana Department of Public Safety, Marks, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene of the noon crash.

A passenger in his vehicle, 38-year-old Shannon Applin, and the driver of the Mack truck, Roy F. Harden, 57, of Navarre, Fla., were both transported to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Following the incident, Elberta Police assisted with the case.
