New Castle, PA : Portersville man in fair condition after Route 19 crash on Tuesday, 29th September 2016
A Portersville man is in fair condition in St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital after his car collided with a detached truck trailer Tuesday in Scott Township.
State police reported that Michael Collins, no age given, was driving north on Route 19 around 6:30 a.m. in a Pontiac G5 when he collided head-on with the trailer that was blocking the northbound lane of the highway.
Police said the trailer had detached from a 1996 Kenworth truck being driven by Carlee William Lewis, 47, of New Castle, as he was turning right from Route 956 onto Route 19. Officers said the trailer became immobile in the northbound lane when Collins hit it, and the front end of his car slid part way under the trailer.
Police said Collins was flown to the Youngstown hospital. His car sustained severe damage.
Lewis was not injured, police said.
