ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FL : 56-year-old man killed in overnight crash on Perdido Key Drive in Escambia County Monday, 1st January 2024

A 56-year-old man is dead and two 23-year-olds are seriously injured after a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning in Escambia County.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. on Perdido Key Drive about 500 feet from the Alabama state line.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a 23-year-old Bay Minette man was driving when his vehicle struck a raised pedestrian crosswalk. He then lost control of his vehicle -- leaving the roadway and hitting a concrete utility pole.

One passenger -- a 56-year-old Bay Minette man -- died in the crash.
