Winona, MN : Woman killed in a head-on crash on Tuesday, August 8, 2017

Authorities have identified the woman killed Tuesday in a head-on crash in the town of Holland.

Melissa Ann Woten, 28, was a passenger in a Ford Focus that was hit on County Road V when a Jeep Liberty driven by 46-year-old John Rinartz crossed the center line. Woten, of Trempealeau and formerly of Racine, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office.

Woten’s 6-year-old son, who was riding in the back seat, and the driver of the Focus, 26-year-old David Hatch, were both injured in the crash. Rinartz was also taken to a local hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The crash occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
