Two young Emirati men were killed in an accident in which a car hit their quad bike on Tripoli Street on Thursday evening.“The 19-year-old Emirati car driver has been placed under provisional detention and will be questioned today. The two Emirati victims... were on the quad bike when the accident took place around 10.20pm Thursday on the three-lane street,” Senior Chief Prosecutor Salah Bu Farousha, Head of Dubai Traffic Public Prosecution (TPP), told Gulf News on Friday.
Onsite accident investigations and eyewitnesses, according to Bu Farousha, said the quad-bike driver came out of a sandy area at the side of the road and crossed Tripoli Street in a vertical direction.
“The quad-bike driver [one of the victims] had crossed the first two lanes before the car driver rammed into the bike when it reached the third lane of the street from Al Warqa’s residential side.“The quad bike driver died on the spot and his companion sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital. However the latter was pronounced dead yesterday morning,” said Bu Farousha.Traffic prosecutors notified Dubai’s Attorney General Essam Eisa Al Humaidan about the accident as he instructed that the required legal procedures be taken immediately, according to TPP’s Head.
