Oklahoma City, OK : Fatal crash reported near Goldsby on Monday, January, 29th 2018
A motorist died Monday morning in a crash that shut down the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Goldsby.
Further details of the crash were not released.
The fatal crash is the latest of hundreds that occur in the state every year.
According to records released last month by the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office, 687 people died in 628 crashes in Oklahoma in 2016, a 6.5 percent increase over 2015.
Data on 2017 crashes will not be available until later this year.
Of those killed in 2016 crashes, 464 were drivers, 127 were passengers, 91 were pedestrians and five were bicyclists. More than half of those crashes involved a crash with another vehicle or a person. The deadliest stationary object for motorists were trees.
In 2016, alcohol was involved in 27.5 percent of fatal crashes.
