An Albany woman and a state trooper were injured Wednesday when a tractor-trailer hit their vehicles on the Thruway at Kingston, state police said.

Both the woman and trooper were taken to Kingston Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, treated and released, state police said.

The incident happened on the northbound section at about 3 p.m. as the trooper was assisting a disabled vehicle. Two Albany residents occupied the disabled vehicle.

The tractor-trailer driver first struck the driver's side of the trooper car and then the driver's side of the disabled vehicle, state police said.

The trooper, identified as 19-year veteran Thomas P. Hanigan, was inside his patrol car when the semi struck. The passenger of the disabled vehicle, identified as Juana Herrera, 46, of Albany, was injured as she was pushed into the guard rail. That vehicle's driver, Alejandro Espinosa, 56, of Albany, was able to jump over the guard rail and was uninjured.
