FORT THOMPSON, AR : 17-year-old killed, three injured in Buffalo County crash on Monday, 2nd August 2021

One person was killed and three more injured in a two-vehicle crash in Buffalo County on Sunday evening.

The Department of Public Safety said a 2009 Chevrolet Equinox was driving northbound and a 2018 Dodge Ram was driving southbound on 349th Avenue approximately 14 miles northeast of Fort Thompson when they collided at a hill crest just after 7:30 p.m.

The 17-year-old driver of the Chevrolet, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a Chamberlain hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The 78-year-old driver of the Dodge and a 77-year-old passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a Chamberlain hospital. Both were wearing seatbelts.

A third passenger in the Dodge was not wearing a seatbelt. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital in Wessington Springs, before being moved to a hospital in Sioux Falls. The male's age was not released.
