A father and son from Austin have died in a head-on crash in Steele County.
The Minnesota State Patrol says 43-year-old Karl Erickson and his 9-year-old son, Elijah, died after their car crossed the center line and collided with a sport utility vehicle on state Highway 218 near Blooming Prairie around 6:45 a.m. Friday.
The 79-year-old Blooming Prairie man who was driving the SUV was taken to a Rochester hospital with serious injuries.
