Cantonment, FL : Two critically injured in crash on U.S. 29 and Muscogee Road on Wednesday night, May 11, 2016
Two people suffered critical injuries during a crash in Cantonment Wednesday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The collision occurred around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 29 and Muscogee Road.
Diane Purifoy, 58, was turning left from U.S. 29 onto Muscogee Road when she crossed into the path of a SUV driven by 36-year-old Christopher Odom Jr., the release said.
The front of the SUV struck the rear right of Purifoy's vehicle, causing the SUV to overturn onto its left side. Both Odom and his passenger, 43-year-old Joseph Michael Kettering, suffered critical injuries and were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment. Neither was wearing a seat belt, according to the release.
Purifoy escaped the collision with minor injuries.
Charges in the crash are pending the results of a Florida Highway Patrol investigation.
