Denver, CO : Driver accused of trying to kill passenger in Boulder car crash takes plea deal on Tuesday, 6th September 2016
The driver accused of crashing into a traffic-signal pole in Boulder in what police said was an attempt to kill his girlfriend accepted a plea deal this morning that could put him in prison for up to 16 years.
George Pappas, 51, pleaded guilty in Boulder District Court to second-degree assault and vehicular assault. As part of the deal, attorneys agreed that Pappas will be sentenced to somewhere between eight and 16 years at a hearing on Nov. 7.
In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped an attempted-murder charge.
While being read the plea deal, Pappas asked for a second to discuss the sentencing range with this attorneys, but then ultimately took the deal a few minutes later.
