RUSSELL, KS : Two injured in crash near Russell on Monday, November 28th, 2016
Two people were injured Monday morning when the car they were traveling in crashed into a semi-trailer on Interstate Highway 70.
The car’s driver, Abdulaziz A. Alysulaymi, 27, of Los Angeles, was taken to Russell Regional Hospital. A passenger, Ahmed J. Sindi, 23, of Warrensburg, Mo., was flown to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. No patient conditions were available on Tuesday.
The car was traveling eastbound at 8:54 a.m. when it struck the trailer that was legally parked on the shoulder. The car went under the trailer, crossed the eastbound lanes of I-70, turned south and came to rest against a guardrail. Ahmed was lying down in the back seat, with no seat belt, and was ejected.
The truck driver, Edward P. McPhillips, 61, of California City, Calif., was not injured.
