Amarillo, TX : One dead, One injured in motorcycle v. car accident on I-40 Thursday, August 28, 2014
A motorcycle and a passenger car collided on I-40, claiming one life.
Four miles east of Conway, the 2013 Harley Davidson was traveling eastbound in the outside lane of I-40. The 2001 Ford Taurus, driven by 18-year-old Maureen McManamon, changed lanes to pass the motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle, David Milton Ross, 53, turned left from the outside lane in an attempt to use a turn-around to travel back on westbound I-40. Both the driver and passenger, Kylea Suzanne Morgan, 36, of Claude, were thrown from the motorcycle, which came to rest in the south bar ditch.
The Ford Taurus came to rest in the inside eastbound lane of I-40.
Ross was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Morgan was transported to the hospital as well with incapacitating injuries. She was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
McManamon was not transported to a hospital.
