Aurora, CO : Motorcyclist killed in crash near E-470 in southeast Aurora Thursday, July 7, 2016

A woman riding a motorcycle died Thursday, July 7, in a crash near Gartrell Road and the E-470 Tollway in southeast Aurora.

The woman, whose name was not released, was riding alone on a motorcycle south on Gartrell when a woman driving an SUV south on Gartrell turned in front of her, police said. The motorcycle collided with the SUV.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet but seriously injured and died at a local hospital, police said, while the driver of the SUV was uninjured.

The SUV driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.

Investigators don’t believe alcohol, drugs or speed were a factor in the crash.

No charges have been filed and police said the crash is still under investigation.
