A teenage boy was killed in a single-car crash Saturday morning, police said.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Johnathan Vicente Peruch, 17, of Jupiter, was driving a 1999 Mercury Cougar southbound on U.S. 1 about 7 a.m. when for an unknown reason the car left the roadway and the left side of the vehicle struck a tree.

Peruch, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
