DIXON, CA : Winters man dies in overnight I-80 crash on Saturday, February 18th 2017

A 25-year-old Winters man was killed in an early morning solo crash Saturday on westbound Interstate 80 near the Highway 113 interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP received a call at around 1:49 a.m. of a vehicle off the road and into a tree. The CHP reports that witnesses said the vehicle left the road for no apparent reason and hit with a tree. Medical personnel responded and pronounced the driver dead at the scene, authorities said.

One lane of the freeway was closed for three and half hours while the driver was extricated and the vehicle cleared from the scene.

The driver’s name was not released. The CHP said in a press release that alcohol may be a factor in the crash.
