Eaton Twp ,OH : Four-car crash injures Three people on Sunday afternoon ,July 5th 2015
Three people were flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after suffering injuries in a four-car crash Sunday afternoon. Ohio Highway Patrol troopers suspect alcohol was a factor in the collision.
At about 2:42 p.m., Elyria resident Michael Rider, 48, was driving north through the intersection of state Route 57 and Chestnut Ridge Road when his car crashed into a Jeep Patriot that ran a red light, said Sgt. Timmothy Hoffman of the patrol’s Elyria post. As the Jeep ran off the road, its driver, Raven Rodriguez, 31, struck an eastbound Ford Focus driven by 17-year-old Brandie Lee Fowler, of Wellington, that was stopped at the light. The Jeep crashed into a flowerbed on the southwest corner of the intersection, flipped and trapped front-seat passenger Charelle Perry, 32, of Cleveland, inside. Rodriguez, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected.
Debris from the crash also struck a Toyota Tacoma, driven by Dennis Hamilton, that also was stopped at the light, damaging the car. Hamilton and his passenger, Diane McCall, 59, of Elyria, were unharmed.
Troopers said they suspect Rodriguez was intoxicated.
