Spearfish ,SD :One Driver injured and Two horses killed in I-90 wreck on Saturday morning ,August 29th 2015
Two horses loose on Interstate 90 were killed early Saturday morning after they were hit by two different vehicles.
Shortly before 5 a.m., a Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputy received a report of the horses on the interstate near mile marker 19. While she was responding to the scene, another report was received that a wreck had occurred.
Branndon Marker, 22, of Casper, Wyo., was traveling east on I-90 when he allegedly struck one of the horses, according to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. His Lexus RX 330 left the interstate, entered the south ditch, and went through the fence and into the pond adjacent to the interstate at the Elkhorn Ridge Golf Course.
Marker received a broken jaw and was transported to Spearfish Regional and later Rapid City Regional hospitals.
The second horse was believed to have been struck by a semi truck shortly after the first horse was killed. No second vehicle was located, however.
