State police say a 75-year-old tractor-trailer driver has died after a collision with a Volkswagen Golf in the southbound lanes of Interstate 87 north of Albany during the Monday morning rush hour.
Troopers say an 18-wheeler hauling crushed stone was in the passing lane when it side-swiped the Volkswagen, causing the car to spin out to the right shoulder. The Volkswagen driver was treated for minor cuts at the scene.
Police say the tractor-trailer struck a guide rail and overturned in the center median between exits 9 and 10 in the Saratoga County town of Clifton Park.
The truck driver, Michael Cenate of Fort Ann, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The southbound lanes were closed until 4:33 p.m.
