Anne Arundel County, MD : Four people injured in car accident along Interstate 97 that closed the highway for several hours early Sunday July 27th 2014
Four people were seriously injured early Sunday after a car crash along northbound Interstate 97 near Benfield Boulevard, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said.
About 8 a.m. Sunday a silver car crashed along the side of highway, throwing three people from the vehicle and trapping one inside, the fire department said. Rescue workers pulled the trapped victim from the wreckage.
A helicopter later transported the victim to University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore where the victim was being treated for life threatening injuries. The other victims are also being treated at Shock Trauma.
The portion of Interstate 97 in Millersville was closed for several hours while the Maryland State Police investigated. It has since been reopened to traffic.
