One man has died, and five young men were seriously injured in a single-vehicle rollover crash on State Highway 6 near Marlin on Wednesday evening, officials said.
A 19-year-old Houston-area man died early Thursday morning. He was one of six occupants traveling south on Highway 6 at about 6 p.m. Wednesday when the Ford Explorer they were in had a tire blowout, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. D.L. Wilson said. Five of the six occupants were ejected when the vehicle rolled several times.
Falls County Sheriff Ricky Scaman said several agencies in the region assisted at the crash site. Three men were taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco, and three were taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, Scaman said.
At each hospital, one man was listed in critical condition and two were listed with serious injuries as of Wednesday night, Scaman said.
At about 1:45 a.m. Thursday, authorities were notified that the 19-year-old listed in critical condition in Temple had died of his injuries. The two other men at the Temple hospital were listed in stable condition Thursday morning.
By Thursday morning, Wilson said the three men taken to the Waco hospital had been treated and discharged. All six occupants range in age from 17 to 19 years old and live in the Houston area, officials said.
The investigation is ongoing, Wilson said. Names of the victims will be released after family has been notified.
