Wapakoneta, OH : 2 hospitalized in U.S. 33 accident Saturday, January 21, 2017

Two men were hospitalized Saturday evening after an accident on state Route 33 that shut the highway down for more than two hours.

Troopers from the Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the two-vehicle crash took place on U.S. Route 33 near mile marker 20 at the Kuenstle Road intersection at 5:39 p.m.

According to the report, Mark Moyler, 45, of Waynesfield, was driving a 2015 Jeep Renegade east on U.S. 33 when he went left of center, striking a 2001 Mercury Sable being driven by Daniel Case, 26, of Wapakoneta, who was traveling west. Moyler’s Renegade came to rest on the road and the Case’s Sable went off the north side of the road, coming to rest in a ditch. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Moyler suffered incapacitating injuries and was taken by Uniopolis EMS to Lima Memorial Health System in Lima. Case suffered serious injuries and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. Their conditions were unavailable late Tuesday.

The incident closed down U.S. 33 for just more than two hours.
