Redding ,CA : Three People Injured after car collided with a Redding Area Bus Authority bus on Monday ,May 4 2015
Three people were hurt today when a car collided with a Redding Area Bus Authority bus in south Redding.
Police officer Brian Moore said the RABA bus had stopped at a bus stop on Eastside Road and Star Drive and was ready to begin letting passengers out when a southbound car ran into the back of it.
The bus was carrying 13 passengers, he said.
The driver of the car, Juan Sanchez, 68, was taken to a Redding hospital, Moore said, adding bus passengers Loretta Root, 72, and Mark Smiley, 44, were also transported to the hospital for possible treatment.
He said the injuries were minor and those hurt were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
"They were all complaints of pain," he said.
The bus driver, identified as Saeng Phan, 55, was not injured.
Moore said Sanchez told police he had momentarily looked down before the crash.
"When he looked up, the bus was there," Moore said.
He said officers will conduct an investigation to determine whether Sanchez might have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
Another RABA bus was sent to the scene to pick up those passenger stranded by the accident.
