Martinez, CA : Two ejected, survive crash on Highway 4, west of Alhambra Avenue on Thursday, July 7, 2016
Two people were ejected after a one-car crash Thursday and airlifted to a hospital Thursday, where they were expected to survive, the California Highway Patrol said.
A gray Honda Accord lost control on eastbound Highway 4 about a mile west of Alhambra Avenue around 11:57 a.m., then hit the center metal guard rail before overturning, CHP spokesman Officer Brandon Correia said.
The male driver and his female passenger were in their 20s, but no exact ages were available.
Their injuries were not considered life-threatening. They were taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, and their injuries were considered moderate to minor, Correia said.
The early investigation indicated the Honda made an unsafe turning movement before running off the freeway. Alcohol and drugs were not suspected, Correia said.
The crash caused a brief SIG Alert for severe traffic on Highway 4, but all lanes were opened by 12:32 p.m.
