Man died in a 3-vehicle crash on Highway 20

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's office said a man died in a 3-vehicle crash on Highway 20 late Friday night.

The sheriff's office has not released the victim's name pending notification of family.

Investigators said it happened about 11:30 Friday near Highway 20 and Galena Ridge Road in rural Stockton, Illinois. They said the victim was attempting to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone while eastbound., then struck a westbound semi tractor-trailer head-on. The victim's car also struck the car it was passing.

The two other drivers were transported to area hospitals.

The crash remains under investigation.
