Cartersville, GA : Cartersville man dies in workplace accident on Monday, February 13th 2017

A workplace accident at Monitor Manufacturing Co., 1450 West Ave., killed a Cartersville man Monday.

Bartow County Deputy Coroner Brent Wilkey said Deon Eggleston, 43, died after a tire he was working on exploded.

“He was working on a lawnmower tire,” Wilkey said, “and it exploded hitting him in the chest and under the chin.”

Wilkey said Eggleston was breathing and had a pulse when the Cartersville Fire Department arrived, but shortly after, went into cardiac arrest.

According to FindtheCompany’s web site, Monitor, a subsidiary of Americana Development, Inc., was founded in 1964 and manufactures and markets tires and wheels for lawn and garden equipment.
