Newport teen killed in Coventry crash in Vermont

A Newport Center teen has been identified as the driver killed in a crash Monday night in Coventry.The accident happened at the intersection of Alderbrook Road and Route 14.State police said an Orleans County Sheriff’s deputy was turning around to follow a speeding car, when the car disappeared from the deputy’s sight. The officer than saw the Hyundai Tiburon collide with a truck.

The driver of the Hyundai was identified as 16-year-old Tyler Collins. He was not wearing a seat belt and was killed in the crash, police said.Johnny Crocker, 16, of Derby, was riding shotgun and Dylan Germaine, 16, of Newport, was in the backseat. Both suffered minor injuries.
