Juneau,AK : Cousins killed in crash near South County Center mall on June, Thursday 29th 2017

Two men died early Thursday morning in Mehlville after a car struck a tree and was engulfed in flames, police say.

The BMW sedan was traveling south through an apartment complex parking lot in the 6900 block of Colonial Woods Drive at about 3:25 a.m. when it struck the tree, police reported. The area is off Union Road near South County Center.

Police identified the driver as Bekir Ismailov, 28, of the 5200 block of Hilda Avenue in Affton, and the passenger as Mamed Ismailov, 22, of 7700 block of Alaska Avenue in St. Louis' Carondelet neighborhood. The two men were cousins and both were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators believe excessive speed is a direct cause of the accident.
