Posey County, IN : KY couple injures on I-64 crash shortly after 8:00 p.m. Monday on June 30, 2014
The eastbound lanes of I-64 near Poseyville re-opened shortly after 8:00 p.m. Monday following an accident involving an Indiana State Trooper and another vehicle.
State Police say Trooper Wes Alexander was driving his patrol car west on I-64 with his emergency lights activated.
For unknown reasons, Trooper Alexander's car left the road, crossed the median into the eastbound lanes of I-64, and hit a car driven by Sherri Jones of Louisville.
Both cars ended up off the south side of the road.
State Police say 63-year-old Jones was taken by helicopter to Deaconess Hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries. Her husband, 64-year-old John Jones, was taken by ambulance to Deaconess where he is also being treated for serious injuries.
29-year-old Trooper Alexander is being treated at Deaconess Hospital for a head injury. He is expected to be released Tuesday afternoon.
The eastbound lanes of I-64 at the Poseyville exit were closed for approximately four-hours while troopers investigated the crash
