Phoenix, AZ : 1 dead, 1 hurt in wrong-way crash at 75th Avenue, and motorists can re-enter the Loop 101 at Bell Road on Tuesday, 30th July 2019

A wrong-way collision killed one person and wounded another late Tuesday night on Loop 101 near Union Hills Drive, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

All southbound lanes at 75th Avenue were initially closed and later reopened, ADOT tweeted about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, a wrong-way vehicle traveling north in the southbound lanes collided with another vehicle, Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper Jonathan Montes said Wednesday morning. The crash was near Union Hills Drive.

A person was confirmed dead at the scene, and another person was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Montes said.

The southbound lanes remain closed at 75th Avenue, and motorists can re-enter the Loop 101 at Bell Road, ADOT said.
