Chino Valley , CA : 19- Years old Driver was taken to hospital after Single Car Accident at westbound 60 Freeway on Wednesday , January 14th 2015

A driver was taken to Chino Valley Medical Center after one of two accidents that occurred within an hour of each other Wednesday morning on the 60 Freeway.

Jose Manuel Verdugo, 19, of Pomona, was driving a 1997 Toyota Corolla in a single car accident at 2:14 a.m. Wednesday on the westbound 60 Freeway, east of Reservoir. He was sent to the hospital after complaining of pain, according to Officer Jesus Garcia, spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.

Mr. Verdugo’s car received moderate damage in the accident, attributed to an unsafe turn by the driver, Officer Garcia said.

Earlier that morning, a 1998 Honda Accord and 2010 Kenworth semi truck tractor and trailer collided eastbound on the 60 Freeway, west of Vineyard Avenue.

No injuries were reported.

Honda driver Zachary Cohen, 18, of Hercules, caused the collision by making an unsafe lane change, Officer Garcia said. The Honda, also occupied by passenger Phillip Foes, 22, of La Verne, received moderate damage.

The truck, driven by Michael Martinez, 55, of Chino, received minor damage.
