Aitkin,MN : Pursuit ends in fatal crash in Aitkin County on May,Monday 21th 2018

A Mora, Minn., man was killed when the Jeep he was driving crossed lanes and collided with a truck as he was being pursued by authorities, police said.

The Minnesota State Patrol said Christopher Scott Podvin, 37, was driving north on state Highway 65 in Aitkin County when his 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee collided with a southbound 1996 International 21000 driven by Jeffrey Norman Vorbeck, 61, of Tamarack, Minn.


Podvin, who was not wearing a seat belt, was being pursued at the time by Kanabec County Sheriff’s units, the State Patrol said.

Vorbeck was taken to Mora Hospital with what the State Patrol described as injuries that were not life-threatening.

The circumstances behind the pursuit were not explained.
