Rutland, VT : Sparta man killed in a car crash in Vermont on Monday morning, November 28, 2016

A 74-year-old Sparta man was killed Monday morning in a car crash in Vermont.

John Leffler was a passenger in a 2008 Toyota Highlander that slammed into several trees and rolled over upon veering off Vermont 22A, the Burlington Free Press reported.

Leffler was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the newspaper.

The driver, 74-year-old Doris Leffler, was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center with what were described as minor injuries. Police did not disclose their relationship.

Both were wearing seat belts, the newspaper reported.
