Orange County, FL : Mother and 1-year-old son dead in an off-roading accident when their Jeep got stuck in the mud on Saturday, March 7, 2015

An Orange County mother and her baby were killed in an off-roading accident, but it had nothing to do with a crash.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said Hallie Lewis, 22, Taylor Brown, 21, and their 5-month-old, Brason, were off-roading in a wooded area near State Road 536 and International Drive on Saturday.
When the family's Jeep and its exhaust became partially submerged in a muddy area, Brown got out and tried to pull the vehicle out, authorities said.

While Brown was outside the vehicle, Lewis and Brason became unresponsive inside. Other Jeeps in the area helped Brown get the two out of the Jeep, and drove them down the road to the nearest fire station, but it was too late, authorities said.
"He goes to the back of the Jeep, pulls them out," said Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol. "They put them on another Jeep (and) drive the 5 miles out to the fire station and that is where the mother and the baby was transported."
Montes said FHP is still waiting for the autopsy results, but investigators believe the cause of death is carbon monoxide poisoning.
"For anybody else who does these types of activities, this is something you have to think about. This can happen," said Montes.
Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include headache, dizziness and vomiting.
Troopers are still trying to figure out how long Lewis and Brason were breathing the fumes before they died.
There's no word on whether charges will be filed.
