Fort Collins, CO : Woman hit and killed by an SUV while walking along Interstate 25 in Larimer County early Sunday morning, February 28, 2016

Colorado State Patrol have identified the driver of an SUV and the pedestrian fatally struck early Sunday morning on Interstate 25 near Johnson's Corner in southern Larimer County.

Joshua Jenkins, 34, of Fort Collins, was the driver of the Ford Expedition traveling northbound on I-25 near mile marker 254 when he fatally struck Samantha Beter, 26, of Longmont, who was walking along the left fog line, according to CSP. Beter died at the scene.

Jenkins pulled over and called 911.

Alcohol and excessive speed are not expected as factors in the crash at this time, according to CSP said. The crash remains under investigation.

Northbound I-25 was closed for more than two hours following the crash.
