Aurora woman dies when car strikes tree in

A scary scene unfolded Monday afternoon on Sheboygan’s north side after a vehicle hits a car, tree and house.

The accident occurred shortly after 4:30 PM at North 8th Street and Superior Avenue.

According to the Sheboygan Police Department, a 56 year old Bernice Winter was driving north on North 8th Street Street when she suffered an unknown medical issue and ran a stop sign and crashed into another car and which was stopped at Superior Avenue. She continued traveling north for nearly half a block and went up into a yard, struck a three and a house.

Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to remove the driver out of the vehicle.

The woman was transported to Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center by Sheboygan Fire Department Ambulance where she was where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the stopped car suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.

North 8th Street was closed for several hours while officers investigated and was re-opened around 8:30 PM. The accident remains under investigation.
