A Brunswick County man was struck and killed by a car while walking in Shallotte Sunday night.
According to the State Highway Patrol, the collision was first reported around 11 p.m. on Main Street near US 17.
Ashby Smith, 47, of Bolivia, was walking southbound on Main Street with the flow of traffic when he was hit by a 2015 Nissan Altima, also traveling southbound.
Smith died at the scene.
The State Highway Patrol said the investigation is ongoing, but alcohol, drugs, and speed were not contributing factors in the crash.
