Gresham, OR : 10-year-old boy hit by car in Gresham dies, brother remains hospitalized Friday afternoon, October 31, 2014
Two boys walking on a Gresham sidewalk were struck by a car and subsequently rushed to a Portland-area hospital Friday afternoon.
Gresham police said the crash happened after the boys, ages 8 and 10, got off a school bus near the 900 block of Northeast Country Club Avenue.
The 10-year-old boy died over the weekend, while the 8-year-old remained in the hospital, police said.
Gresham fire officials said there was a two-vehicle collision, and that one of the cars involved careened onto the sidewalk and crashed into fence.
The two boys were rushed to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in critical condition. Their names have not been released.
A mother and child who were in one of the cars involved in the collision were taken to Oregon Health & Science University to be treated for minor injuries.
Police said the drivers have cooperated fully with the investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, officers said.
No citations or criminal charges have been issued at this time as the investigation continues.
