Mesquite, TX : Denton man dies in Mesquite crash on Sunday, March 26, 2017

At about 8:26 a.m. March 26, the Mesquite Police Department responded to a call of a motor vehicle crash in the 15300 block of southbound Interstate Highway 635.

Investigation revealed a 2009 Yamaha YZFR600 was traveling south on IH-635. The rider lost control, hit a sign in the median, and was ejected from the motorcycle. The motorcycle slid back onto the highway and was hit by a 2004 Honda Accord.

The driver of the 2009 Yamaha YZFR600, identified as Justin Walker, 23, of Denton, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the 2004 Honda Accord, identified as Olufunmilayo Babatunde, 52, of Dallas did not sustain injuries in the crash.

This is the fourth fatality crash of 2017, resulting in five deaths, as compared to six fatality crashes for the same period in 2016, resulting in six deaths. The investigation is ongoing by the Mesquite Police Department Traffic Unit.
