Denver, CO : Jefferson County deputy injured in Golden traffic collision on Friday afternoon, March 10, 2017

A Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy was injured Friday afternoon in a traffic collision as the deputy, with lights and siren going, was heading to another traffic incident in Golden Gate Canyon.

The deputy, who was not identified, was “up and walking around after the crash,” according to a Golden Police Department news release. The deputy was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.

The crash happened at the intersection of U.S. Highway 6 and Colorado 58 and 93, police said.

The deputy, in a marked patrol car, was westbound on U.S. 6 going through the three-highway intersection to head north on 93 when a Dodge Durango, which was westbound on 58, and going through the intersection toward westbound U.S. 6, hit the right rear quarter panel of the deputy’s patrol car, police said. The patrol car spun and hit a third car stopped at the intersection.

No one else was injured. An investigation is ongoing.
