A woman was killed in a car crash Tuesday morning in the Town of Yorkville, according to the Racine County sheriff's office.
The crash occurred about 10:45 a.m. on Plank Road at S. Raynor Ave. The woman was driving a car north on S. Raynor Ave. when she entered the intersection and was hit by a pickup truck traveling west on Plank Road, authorities said. The woman was partially thrown from the vehicle and later died from her injuries at a hospital.
The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and also was taken to a hospital. Neither vehicle had any passengers. The crash remains under investigation, and the woman's identify has not been released pending notification of family.
The woman was not wearing a seat belt, nor did she have a valid driver's license, according to the sheriff's office.
"This is a tragic event and my condolences go out to the friends and family of the victim," Sheriff Christopher Schmaling said in a news release, before adding a reminder for motorists to "buckle up."
