WALHALLA, SC : One dead after Oconee Co. moped crash on Thursday, 8th September 2016
One person died after a crash in Oconee County Thursday evening.
The incident happened at about 8:57 p.m., on Pickett Post Road and Earlestead Road, about 3 miles north of Walhalla.
Highway Patrol troopers tell us that the driver of a 2003 Chevrolet SUV was driving south on Pickett Post Road and was trying to turn left onto Earlestead Road when they struck a 2008 moped with improper headlights driving south on Pickett Post Road.
The driver of the SUV was wearing a seat belt during the crash and was not injured or transported to the hospital for treatment. There were no passengers in the SUV.
The driver and single occupant of the moped succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. The moped driver was not wearing a helmet during the crash and was ejected from the bike.
No charges have been filed in this incident.
